Making free children’s books with Book Dash

Book Dash gathers creative professionals who volunteer to create new African storybooks that anyone can freely translate and distribute. In a personal capacity, I have volunteered for Book Dash as a designer since 2014 and have participated in six book creation events.

During my time at Electric Book Works, I worked with Book Dash and Worldreader to turn over 100 translated titles into reusable HTML and ebooks that could be read on any device. See the project in action here.

My key role was the creation and management of sensible systems for the translation of over a hundred translations of Book Dash titles. This included artwork and file handling, text layout, output, managing translation teams, and print production.
